Firstly, the scope of the object is wider. In the right to privacy,
the infringer and the victim usually have certain connection in
reality and their natural features can be identified clearly, so its
object of infringement is quite simple. The right to Internet privacy,
however, involves more objects concerned, normally including
individual and institution. The individual indicated here refers to
the web-user while the institution relates to the ISP and the
web-master.
Secondly, the subject is more complicated. Compared with the
subject of the right to privacy, that of the right to Internet privacy
has different scope and is in different environment. As I have
mentioned above that Internet privacy covers a wider scope, the
subject of the right to it thus extends. Speaking of the environment,
the subject of the right to privacy exists in reality, while that of
the right to Internet privacy is mainly in the network extending to
the Local Area network (LAN), the Metropolitan Area network (MAN) and
the Wide Area Network (WAN).
Thirdly, the means is more secret and technology-demanded. Distinct
from the right to privacy, infringement on user's right to Internet
privacy generally requires special technology resulting in the
technologization of infringement means. For example, Cookies can be
utilized by hacker to track down user's data and e-mail. The high-tech
requirement of the infringer makes a normal web-user, who knows only
basic knowledge of computer and the Internet, ignorant of being
infringed. What's more, the openness and quick-transmission of network
makes the infringer difficult to be identified.
